5 in 5 update: Off to a Slow Start
Perhaps I started this challenge to soon.
I am now three weeks into the challenge and I have successfully started zero of the 5 challenges.
Things were going well at first with FBA, at least as far as starting on time. But then the next weekend I had a wedding over in Ireland which meant I was not around to do week number 2, TaskRabbit.
This weekend I’ve mainly spent catching up with the hundreds of emails I got while away. Not good planning on my part…
Thankfully, there is hope. Yesterday I completed my registration as a Tasker on TaskRabbit. It’s very exciting because now I can charge $19/hr to wait in line for someone!
So lets give the full update. Yesterday I completed my registration with TaskRabbit, selecting waiting in lines and event staffing as my areas of expertise. I was very tempted to say I was professionally certified to wait in line but didn’t want to risk my account getting closed.
Event planning sounded like an interesting task but for some reason it paid less ($22/hr) than greeting people at the event ($25/hr). Waiting in line, as you heard, paid $19/hr…yup.
Naturally, now that I am all registered I can’t figure out how to apply for a task. I think I remember having a similar problem when trying to become a tasker in the first place. They really make you hunt for things.
I have sent in a support ticket. Hopefully they will get back to me and I can start next weekend.
Speaking of next weekend, I am starting flex time this week!
This means I will be working Mon-Thurs at my job and have a three day weekend. This will allow me to really catch up on all my writing and business stuff.
It’s the best time of the year. Unfortunately, I will only get to enjoy it for 6 weeks and then I head out to Brazil. I’ll have to get a lot of work done in that time.
Amazon FBA update
Amazon FBA is going great (sarcasm). I still haven’t managed to ship out my first box. After two rounds of buying the wrong labels, then buying the right labels and then realizing I didn’t need them (>.<) I put my box out for pick-up.
Four days later, when it was still there, I realized I would have to drop it off at the UPS store :'(
Today will be the day my box goes out!
Today will also be the day I get all my other purchases from before I went to Ireland. I should have a couple hundred dollars worth of product to package and ship out. I won’t be buying anymore until then so I’ll look to ship that out this week as well.
A Couple Side Notes
As a couple asides I will now be documenting my studying of Brazilian Portuguese in preparation for my trip in August. I’ll start by summarizing what I have been doing up till now as I have been studying since January by myself. Should allow me to really get an idea of how far (if at all) I’ve come and how it’s going to go going forward as I will now be setting up a budget for tutoring on iTalki.
I had wanted to start a trial lesson with someone tonight but I signed up through Facebook and they didn’t have me set up a password. Of course, a password is required to book a class so it looks like I won’t be starting today. I have sent in another support ticket for this as well. Hurray for the internet..
Finally, I was surprised the other week when I got an email from AlphaGamma asking if I would like to come on as a contributor. I accepted, it should be a good opportunity to write more and reach a broader audience. I’ll let you know when I publish my first article. I’m still getting set up with them as I was leaving for the wedding right when they contacted me.
Well, that’s it for now. I’m looking forward to getting a lot done this week, especially now that I have flex time.
Till next time!
