A 5 in 5 disaster and what’s next
In case you haven’t figured it out the 5 in 5 challenge has not gone as planned. It has become the 5 in 5 disaster.
To sum it up, I basically only did the Amazon FBA part and barely started on any of the others.
There are a couple reasons for this. One, I have become completely obsessed with Amazon FBA. And two, I ran into trouble and out of time with the other initiatives.
Looking at the 5 in 5 disaster
First, lets look at week two which was supposed to be TaskRabbit.
I went through the process of applying on TaskRabbit and figuring out what I was going to do only to get no response. After reaching out to them I got a disappointing response.
So that was that, no more TaskRabbit unless I get an invitation. Moving on we have week 3, buying a website on Flippa.
I honestly still want to do this one but with things taking off with Amazon FBA I don’t really see a reason to prioritize this. The whole reason behind this challenge was to see what I could make money at. So far, it looks like Amazon FBA will be be able to fill this need for me.
This also applies to Weeks 4 and 5, getting a web design gig. This is really the only thing I still would like to prioritize but it will have to wait until I get my systems in place for Amazon FBA. With Brazil coming up in August I probably won’t have the opportunity to do anything but Amazon FBA until September.
What’s this mean going forward? Well, I’ll be focusing solely on Amazon FBA. I see a lot of potential and I’m really enjoying it.
I’ll be writing mainly about Amazon FBA in a new series dubbed “The FBA Chronicles” which will detail the struggles, challenges and hopeful success as I go through the various stages of an Amazon FBA business such as starting up, automating through outsourcing, understanding tools like inventory lab, transitioning from Online Arbitrage to Private Label, and more.
There are a lot of others things that I want to write about as well such as my plan to achieve a net worth of zero (ambitious, I know) and my journey learning Portuguese. All these things relate to quests that are going on.
While the 5 in 5 challenge became the 5 in 5 disaster there are some things I learned from it. Most importantly, that I need to manage my time outside of work better and focus on what’s working. For that, I’ve turned to using google calendar more heavily. lets hope it works!
I’m really looking forward to moving forward with Amazon FBA and hopefully I can shed some light on what it’s like getting started. Now I just need to find the time to write.
